Add the ability to hold WW collets on the surface of your rotary
table or mill table...
Newly developed at the request of a clockmaker, this item offers a number of
new setup possibilities. 8 mm (.314-.315 body dia.)
collets have a through hole, allowing long material or parts with long shafts to
be held accurately. Previously it had been impossible to hold a WW-type collet
on the surface of a rotary table or mill table because there was no through-hole
to allow a drawbolt to be used to pull the collet into a tapered fixture. This
design allows the collet to be closed from the surface by turning a knurled ring
that pulls the collet down into the fixture without the need for a drawbolt.
Included with the fixture is an alignment bushing that registers with the center
hole of the rotary table to help set up the fixture on center. Also included are
T-nuts and hold-down bolts.
P/N 1164 and P/N 1165 are identical except for the inner diameter. The
two most popular sizes of WW collets are accommodated. The 8 mm holder is
identified by a groove running around the outside of the body. Those who use
Sherline WW collets would purchase the P/N 1164 WW holder (See P/N 1164). Users of other brand
collets measuring .314 to .315" O.D. would order the P/N 1165 8 mm holder.
This is a very specialized part that makes a particular kind of setup
possible. Though it won't be needed by everyone, if you have a job where this
fixture would make your life easier, you now have another option
available.
